Japanese singer Fujii Kaze announced his first ever stateside tour, beginning in late May. Fujii Kaze and the piano U.S. Tour will bring the singer to Los Angeles on May 30 and 31 and New York on June 2 and 3. While the tour was initially announced with one show in each city, another night was added to meet demand.
At the young age of 12 years old, Fujii began building his music career by uploading vocal covers and piano covers on YouTube, garnering more than 30 million views before taking a hiatus to focus on high school. Following his graduation, the singer-songwriter resumed uploading videos, and in 2019, he moved from Okayama to Tokyo to fully pursue music. Within the last two months of that same year, a then 22 year old Fujii released his first single, “Nan-Nan (何なんw),” and his second single, “Mo-Eh-Wa (もうええわ).” Both singles were also re-released digitally as individual EPs, with each including several cover songs as well. In January 2020, Fujii was chosen as one of Spotify’s Early Noise 2020 Top 10 Breaking Artists, and in May, he released his first studio album, Help Ever Hurt Never. His first studio album hit number one on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart, and in August of the same year, he became the first Japanese singer to make it onto YouTube’s Artist on the Rise list.
While the artist topped Japanese charts and won various domestic awards such as Best Solo Artist and People’s Choice, it was in July 2022 that Fujii saw global success. One of the singer-songwriter’s tracks off his first studio album, “Shinunoga E-Wa (死ぬのがいいわ),” went viral on TikTok, which placed the song on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, US Billboard’s Global 200 Chart, and YouTube’s Global Top Songs Chart. At time of press, the song currently has over 525 million streams on Spotify. Most recently, Fujii released his 14th single, “Hana,” in October 2023, which also became the theme song for TV drama series, Ichiban Sukina Hana (いちばんすきな花). He also announced and completed his first international schedules last year with the Asian leg of his Fujii Kaze and the piano tour, which solely features the singer-songwriter and his piano.
