Just over a year since their last U.S. tour, Loossemble returned stateside to hold the Loossemble 2024 Concert in U.S. [Up_Link Station] tour. Just two days before the start of the tour, it was announced that YeoJin would not appear on tour due to health reasons. On October 11, four members of Loossemble put on the group’s first ever Boston show at the historic Orpheum Theatre.
As K-pop groups increasingly perform in the U.S., they are also bringing “fancon” shows, short for “fan concert.” In comparison to a regular concert, this type of show dedicates more time for artists to interact with fans and play games together, while also including some musical performances. Engaging the crowd, the group filmed dance challenges with fans and held a “Why I Love Loossemble” segment, in which members read heartfelt messages from fans.

While the group brought only a few songs last tour, Loossemble came back with a bigger discography to share more of their sound and style. It was unfortunate that YeoJin couldn’t participate on the tour because even after reworking the choreography, the performances still looked incomplete at times. As for production, there were no background visuals, but the dynamic lighting and fog helped create a unique atmosphere that enhanced the mood of the songs.
The most intense moment of the night came midway through the show after the members left the stage. The room went dark as “Fanaticism,” their recent album’s intro track, began to play amidst a flashy light show. The intro infused a funky EDM sound to the album’s title track, “TTYL,” as the members appeared onstage one by one. The perfect translation had the crowd erupting in the loudest cheers of the entire night. The bright electro-pop song featured fast and high-energy choreo that reinvigorated the crowd into a frenzy.

Shortly after performing “TTYL,” the group put on an impressive performance to the slow pop/R&B song, “Moonlight.” The quartet executed alluring moves on stage before the lights dimmed, and the members pulled out some glowing orbs for a light show in the dark that complemented the theme and title of the song. Following “Moonlight,” the group immediately went into “Truman Show,” a pop ballad that, while the lyrics themselves are quite sad, gave an uplifting feeling when hearing it live.
Closing out the show, Loossemble expressed how much they enjoyed their first show in Boston. Taking one last chance to interact with fans, they posed for selfies while wearing tour merch and holding their newly released croissant lightsticks. Even down a member, Loossemble showed off their new music and had a fun-filled night with their fans.
