Character Media’s annual Unforgettable Gala is returning for its 22nd year on December 14. Taking place at the Beverly Hilton, this year’s gala will also air nationwide on ChimeTV, powered by video-on-demand platform GoldenTV. This year’s selection committee co-chairs are Adele Lim and Eugene Lee Yang.
Each year, the event has a different theme around honoring and uplifting the AAPI community. This December, the evening’s theme will be “Unforgettable Together,” designed to celebrate the AAPI community’s legendary icons and bright stars. The event will also feature performances by K-pop solo artist Wonho, formerly of Monsta X, The Jets, and 98 Degrees.
Over the years, Unforgettable Gala brought together the AAPI community for a celebratory night. 2021 saw the gala’s return from a COVID-19 induced hiatus, and the theme was befittingly “RISE,” which focused on Asian American communities coming together and rising against the influx of anti-Asian hate crimes during and partially due to the global pandemic. 2022 was a year of representation on the rise, and was celebrated with the theme “Illuminate,” shining the spotlight on the brightest stars of the Asian American community, particularly those who have lit the way for the next generation. 2023‘s gala did not see a specific theme. Some of last year’s honorees included Charles Melton, Steven Yeun, Greta Lee, Young Mazino, Adele Lim, Sung Jin Lee, Steven Lim, Mackenyu, Byeong Kyu Cho, Alison Lee, Never Have I Ever, and Bruce Lee.
