On his TAPE:RE LOAD U.S. Tour, Korean soloist JAY B performed in Los Angeles on June 8. Although the event was originally scheduled a week prior, it was postponed due to visa issues for the singer’s team. Despite that, the singer brought his A-game to the Avalon Hollywood, performing his heart out to the packed venue.
The show began at 7:30 p.m. on the dot with an opening performance by Korean R&B singer Tabber. The singer kept things chill with his set, strutting across the stage and performing a variety of slow tempo songs and a few upbeat tracks. His set included songs like “007,” “Hysteric Glamour,” and “Chi-Ka.” Fans swayed and sang along during his short but sweet set, getting warmed up for the headliner.
Once Tabber took his exit, the fans began to grow antsy. After a few minutes passed, the music suddenly came to a stop, and the lights began to dim. A video appeared on the screens adorning the back of the stage and the venue’s side walls, announcing the main act that would soon appear. After a few flashes of his face, the video stopped, and the lights dimmed once more. As the first notes of “Present” played over the speakers, JAY B stepped on stage with a wide grin, greeting the crowd in a casual outfit.

The first song on the setlist holds a lot of meaning for fans; it was released as a CD-only track dedicated to his fans. The heartwarming lyrics touched listeners. “You waited for me for so long, right? I’m sorry, I didn’t intend to be late,” he sang to the crowd’s delight. The singer last performed in LA in 2019 when he was touring as part of K-pop boy group, GOT7. The evening continued on in the same manner, with JAY B’s heartfelt lyrics, smooth vocals, and sharp dance moves capturing the audience’s hearts and attention.
He breezed through tracks like “Baby,” “Fountain of Youth,” and “If You,” taking just one quick pause between songs to change outfits. His first look included perfectly coiffed hair, a denim jacket, white t-shirt, and jeans, and it was topped off with a cowboy hat midway through the first section of the show. The simple outfit allowed the singer to focus on the music while comfortably moving around. During the second half of the show, JAY B was ready to move away from the laidback, youthful look, and switch into a sultry outfit. With black trousers, a nearly see-through loose red blouse, and tousled hair, he returned on stage for songs such as “°C (Temperature)” and “AM/PM.” For one track, the singer even prepared a sensual couple dance with one of his dancers, as she sat on his lap and they moved together in union.

When JAY B shared that he was seeking to show off different sides of himself as an artist through the show, the crowd’s cheers and words of encouragement grew louder. The show came to a close with “Holy Day,” which the singer admitted felt a little strange to perform in his sheer red top. While the bright energy of the song contrasted his revealing outfit, it actually perfectly represented JAY B’s multifaceted self–sensual and youthfully happy, all at once.
Although the venue’s energy was palpable all night, the encore is what truly brought it up to its peak. Returning in casual blue jeans and the white tour t-shirt, JAY B performed EDM remixes of “Fame” and “Take it Easy,” along with a rock remix of “Crash.” As if he was freed from the worries and pressures of putting on a perfect live concert, the singer jumped, danced, and laughed throughout the songs, letting his inhibitions go onstage with his dancers and with his fans. Making the moment even more special, he also pointed out fellow GOT7 member Mark, who was in the crowd enjoying the show with his whole family.
Rounding out the night and reminding everyone he will always be GOT7’s leader, JAY B performed the group’s songs “Page,” “Thursday,” “Go Higher,” and “Before the Moon Rises” before officially ending the night. With a radiant smile, JAY B shared warm words and a sweet promise to swiftly return before offering one final bow and exiting the stage.
