AB6IX Delivers a “BLAZE” of Energy at Final ‘The Future’ Show in LA

December 6, 2023

Brand New Music’s four-member boy group AB6IX returned to Los Angeles on their The Future world tour. After the quartet’s fan meeting tour in 2022, AB6IX was fired up to showcase their growth to their fans, known as ABNEW, at the Teragram Ballroom. Once Daehwi, Woong, Donghyun, and Woojin took to the stage, fans frantically waved their signs in hopes of catching their bias’ attention. Despite performing in six US cities in less than two weeks, the members showed no signs of slowing down.

Starting off the passionate night of high energy performances with “Resonance,” AB6IX absolutely proved how far they’ve come since their debut in 2019. Effortlessly transitioning to the snappy pop hit, “Loser,” the members took a pause to catch their breath and say hello to LA’s ABNEW. Since they ended their fan meeting in the same city the last time they were here, AB6IX wanted to make the City of Angels their final stop again because it felt like coming home. However, there were plenty of fans who have followed them throughout their US tour.

Even though the Teragram Ballroom has plenty of room, ABNEW were so excited they had no idea how tightly packed they were. As the members provided a gentle reminder to take a step back and check on their neighbors, Daehwi commented how “Weightless” is his favorite song before moving onto its introduction. Fitting in with the ballad’s mellow mood, the lighting dimmed to shades of light blues and pinks. Suddenly, the lighting switched to an intense red as the four members sped into the energetic core of “BLAZE,” “SUCKER,” and “EINSTEIN.”

Among all their songs about falling in and out of love, the real heart (and show) stopper was “THE ANSWER,” in which the other three members swung Woong up into the air on the tiny stage. Even though he grazed the stage lights, he brushed it off as if nothing happened. When reflecting on the performance afterwards, the main vocalist confessed his hair did touch the ceiling. “When my bangs fly, I crouch down on reflex. I think all the members were excited because it’s our last show, so they threw me really high.”

Daehwi stepped in because he revealed the members criticized the way he held up Woong during the previous show. “This time I supported his butt, so no wonder he was a little heavier. So, I will go to Korea and practice a little bit more and come back.” Feeling sentimental about the song, Woojin shared how satisfying it is to have such a big discography: “We’ll work hard to come up with new songs in new genres so you can’t get bored.”

When Donghyun introduced “Complicated,” he declared that the LA crowd will be “the best” at singing along. Without a doubt, he was right. The track was written by MONSTA X’s Hyungwon and was the first AB6IX song written all in English. Before continuing to the solo section, Woojin prefaced their upcoming segment: “We originally had a corner where we’d show you a cute side of us, but as the tour went on, it turned into something that you guys wanted to see.”

After a mix of screams from the crowd, they settled on displaying both the cute and sexy sides from all members. Daehwi went first with an acapella version of “IN YOUR EYES,” Woojin danced to his song “Top Tier,” Woong dropped down for the “Booty Wurk” challenge, and Donghyun ended the segment with a short cover of Johnny Stimson’s “Flower.” The lead vocalist couldn’t help but close his cover on a question mark: “Baby you’re my sweet…heart?”

Unquestionably, AB6IX enjoyed the energy from being on stage, the crowd, and each other. Their onstage group chemistry was the driving force behind their vigorous outpouring of energy throughout the night. In particular, Woong and Donghyun put their backs into the smooth choreography of “Crow,” which grabbed ABNEW by the throat as they endlessly screamed at the duo’s body rolls.

But this made the last section harder to stomach as their time together with ABNEW concluded. The four left the stage for one last outfit change into their tour shirts and came back with renewed energy to push past the limit for “BE THERE.” This performance stage was so heated that Woojin lost his balance at the end.

In preparation for their last and final song, the four members each had a personal message they wanted to share:

“This is the end of our US tour, but if you turn back, it was actually a short time. I feel extra sad because you guys had so much fun today. I hope you will remember all the cities we performed during this tour. When we do come back, I believe you all will bring even more energy. The US tour was so fun, thank you,” said Woojin. Daehwi echoed his bandmate’s earlier words: “Thank God I could come back to LA. I feel like because you welcomed us so warmly, it’s good to be back. Next time we come back, we’ll bring even better performances.”

Woong chimed in agreement, adding that they should include more cities in their next tour. “But we’ll always save the best for last. LA, you were so hot tonight, and I’m bringing back so many great memories with me.” Donghyun cheekily reminded fans that there’s still more to come: “You do know we have another album coming, right? I will pack all that energy into the new album. Can you guys can wait until then? Until we meet again, I hope you all can stay healthy and be safe!”
