Ado Announces Details for ‘Wish’ World Tour

January 7, 2024

J-pop singer Ado will embark on her first ever world tour, Wish, with four stops in the U.S. The tour will begin in March, kicking off in Europe before moving stateside. The U.S. leg of the tour will begin on March 23rd in New York, move west to California, and end on April 1st in Texas. The tour was announced in collaboration with popular streaming site, Crunchyroll.

Ado first became interested in music after watching cover videos uploaded on the video-sharing website, Niconico, when she was around 12 years old. A few years later, the singer herself began to upload her own videos on Niconico, starting with a cover of Kuwagata-P and Hatsune Miku’s “Kimi no Taion” in January 2017. This marked the beginning of her career as an utaite, an internet cover singer who posts performances without showing their face.

In October 2020, Ado signed with Universal Music Japan and immediately released her debut single, “Ussewa.” After releasing a slew of singles, Ado dropped her sixth single, “Yoru no Pierrot,” in June 2021, and in December that year, she received the Best New Asian Artist Japan Award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. From there, Ado went on to voice the singing character, Uta, in 2022 anime film, One Piece Film: Red. Also, she recently featured in the Japanese version of LE SSERAFIM and Nile Rodgers’ “Unforgiven” and sang the opening theme song, “Kura Kura,” for the second season of anime, SPY x FAMILY.

Following the world tour, Ado will hold a solo live show at the Japan National Stadium, making her the first solo female artist to accomplish this feat.
