Japanese Metalcore Band Hanabie Embarks on North America Tour

April 29, 2024

All-female Japanese metalcore band Hanabie is returning to North America in May to play 11 shows across the U.S. and Canada. The band’s high-octane sound (which they call ‘Harajuku-core’) fuses EDM, punk, and anime influences into nu-metal, and their lyrics address various social issues such as workplace sexism and commodification of relationships.

Yukina (vocals), Hettsu (bass), and Matsuri (guitar & vocals) started the band in 2015 when they connected at their high school, and they were joined by Chika (drums) in 2023. Hanabie’s international reach has been rapidly growing, with international tours and festival performances at Dynamo, Megaport, and Aftershock under their belt. After touring North America and Europe this year, the band is slated to perform at Lollapalooza 2024 in August.
