B.A.P’s main vocalist, Daehyun, made his way to New York City to take part in The Shops at Skyview’s “K-Fun Summer School” Korean Cultural festival on June 16. Daehyun is not the first B.A.P member to take part in this event, as Jongup was the special guest at last year’s event. As it has been six years since Daehyun last performed in the U.S., fans were eager to see him take the stage.
Themed around a high school, the event welcomed Daehyun as a transfer student. The show was formatted to spotlight different facets of Korean culture including K-pop, food, art, fashion, and wellness. The biggest highlight for fans was all the opportunities to get up close and personal with the soloist himself. One fan received a shirt with a design drawn by Daehyun, while others got to taste kimbap or a cocktail made by Daehyun. Perhaps the luckiest fan scored the opportunity to enact a “school romance scene” with Daehyun. In a Q&A session, fans also were able to catch up with the singer and ask questions.

Ahead of Daehyun’s performance, AKF Dance Studio opened with some great dance covers of popular K-pop songs. The soloist showcased a variety of his solo songs throughout the show, including “Bomb (느낌있게)” and “You’re My (너는 내가). He also performed a dance medley with AKF Dance Studio, covering B.A.P hits, “Skydive,” “Wake Me Up,” and “Young, Wild & Free.” Closing out the event, he introduced the final song which would be one of the crowd’s favorites: B.A.P’s “With You.”
When fans thought the event was over, the staff brought out a surprise birthday cake for Daehyun. Making three wishes, the soloist wished to return to New York in the future and to be healthy together with his fans, while he kept the final wish a secret.
While the event came to an end with a special birthday celebration, fans can check out B.A.P’s documentary Man On the Moon and look forward to the group’s forthcoming comeback activities. Daehyun shared, “Although we have only just started this project [B.A.P project and documentary], we’ve actually been preparing for a long time. Please wait for us. I will also be back as a soloist, so please look forward to it.”
