Completing their latest U.S. tour, AB6IX performed in Los Angeles at the Vermont Hollywood this past weekend. The tour, titled 2024 AB6IX FAN CONCERT ‘Find YOU,’ allowed the quartet to interact more with their fans, known as ABNEW, with games and activities in addition to their usual performances.
The setlist for the show mainly focused on songs from the group’s latest album, THE FUTURE IS OURS : FOUND. The concert started off with “TRAVELER,” and throughout the evening, the group also performed “WHISTLE” and “ILY (I LOVE YOU).” The only song from the album that didn’t make it into the setlist was “ALL NIGHT,” which the members pointed out. Donghyun said, “ALL NIGHT isn’t your typical idol song, and it’s one we all like, too.” Woong also chimed in, “It’s one we all want to perform.”
Most notably, the group’s performance for “GRAB ME” stood out above the rest. “GRAB ME” is the title track off the group’s latest album, and it shares AB6IX’s journey to find solutions even despite troubles and obstacles. For the members, the song’s meaning also translates into their daily life. When faced with challenges and stress in their lives, both Daehwi and Woong relieve stress by spending time and communicating with friends. In Woong’s case, he also finds time to sleep more. As pressure is something that comes with being an idol, Woojin searches for long-term solutions, and he likes to take up various hobbies and sports. Donghyun doesn’t think it’s so simple, believing it’s more about having the right mindset: “Quite frankly, there isn’t a real way to get rid of stress. But, I am willing to try and overcome any obstacles in my way.”
For the performance of such a meaningful song, the group truly gave it their all. Matching the Find YOU tour concept, the group wore safari outfits, symbolizing their ongoing search for ABNEW old and new. Woong, Donghyun, and Daehwi pulled off every harmony and high note with ease, and Woojin passionately expressed himself with his smooth baritone rap. And although the members were visibly enjoying every performance, their smiles appeared extra wide as the crowd sang along to this song and waved their lightsticks in the air.
While the first part of the show showed more of the group’s youthful, cute charm with songs such as “THE ANSWER,” the second half featured cooler, more mature performances with tracks like “RED UP” and “SAVIOR.” And as mentioned previously, the four members also spent some time playing games with their fans, creating a new experience outside of just performances.
The quartet started with a game of charades, acting out animals such as dogs, koalas, monkeys, and camels. Being the member designated to guess the answer, Daehwi jokingly expressed his distaste for his handsome members. “When handsome people act things out, they just look handsome! That’s why I hate handsome guys,” he said with a laugh. Next was the Animal Sound 3, 6, 9 game, a twist on the traditional Korean game. Instead of clapping on the 3, 6, and 9 numbers, each member had to make a different animal sound. Daehwi made puppy noises, Woojin made cat noises, Donghyun made elephant noises, and Woong passionately made chicken noises.
The last game played was random play dance, in which Woong danced to LE SSERAFIM’s “Smart,” Donghyun and Woong danced to J. TAJOR’s “Like I Do,” Daehwi and Woong danced to TAEYEON’s “To. X,” and Woojin danced to NewJeans’ “How Sweet.” The group also held a raffle, giving away AirPods Pro Gen2 and AirPods Pro Max, both of which Daehwi jokingly tried to take from the fans.
The night closed with a fan project video full of loving messages from ABNEW to AB6IX, encore performances of “MERRY-GO-ROUND,” “CHANCE,” and “SHINING STARS,” and sweet promises to return again soon. “Even though we have toured every year, this year’s felt a little different,” Woong began. “You guys gave us so much energy with your love and support throughout this month, so we will do our best to make a new album and come back.”
