Ado, ATARASHII GAKKO!, and YOASOBI will be performing at an exclusive event in Los Angeles in March. Titled matsuri ’25, the event is described as a Japanese Music Experience, and will take place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on March 16. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to support fire relief and recovery efforts for the recent Los Angeles wildfires.
Ado is a J-pop singer known as an utaite, or someone who performs without showing their face. In 2022, she voiced the singing character, Uta, in anime film, One Piece Film: Red, and last year, she sang the opening theme song, “Kura Kura,” for the second season of anime, SPY x FAMILY. She held her first world tour in 2024, and was also the first solo female artist to perform a solo show at the Japan National Stadium. She will be kicking off her second U.S. tour, Hibana, in July of this year.
ATARASHII GAKKO! is a Japanese girl group that formed in 2015, and is known for their funny antics, upbeat and catchy music, and intense choreography. They’re best known for their song “Tokyo Calling,” which brought them their first U.S. television appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Last year, the group visited the U.S. for their own tour, along with performances at famed stateside festivals such as Primavera Sound and Coachella.
The Japanese music super group YOASOBI took the world by storm with their viral debut single, “Yoru ni Kakeru,” during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, they’ve released a slew of hits, including “Kaibutsu,” “Gunjo,” and “Idol,” which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart. Last year, the duo also held their first U.S. tour, and performed at the Coachella music festival.
The event is organized by the Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA), a company created by five large Japanese music industry organizations with the intention of helping share Japanese culture worldwide.
