After nearly five years since their 2019 tour, legendary heavy metal J-rock band, DIR EN GREY, returns to the U.S. for a 2025 tour. The cheekily titled U.S. tour, TOUR25 WHO IS THIS HELL FOR?, shares the same name as their domestic Japan tour. In April, the band will headline three special nights in the Los Angeles area with two nights at The Belasco and one night at the Anaheim House of Blues.
They’ll be performing new and old tracks with special picks from their albums VULGAR and Withering to death. The April 8 and April 11 shows will focus on the VULGAR album in combination with recent songs, and the April 9 show will be turning toward the Withering to death. album.
On the band’s official site, member Kaoru commented, “Just like it happened for the European tour we went on in March, we couldn’t make the project of coming to the U.S. in 2022 as part of our 25th anniversary activities come true either. And now, with so much going on, it is quite difficult to do a proper tour, but (we thought) if it’s for a single show, then it’s doable. It will be a little bit different from the “FROM DEPRESSION TO __” series; I think it will become a show where the songs from each of those eras mix up and blend with nowadays DIR EN GREY(‘s music).”
