Bringing their solo concert stateside for the first time, TREASURE held their [SPECIAL MOMENT] tour in four different cities this April. Following their stops in New York, Washington DC, and Oakland, the group wrapped up the tour with a show in Los Angeles at the YouTube Theatre. Although the upstairs balcony was closed, the group’s fans, known as Treasure Makers or Teume, filled the floor, armed with lightsticks and banners.
From the start, it was clear that the tour was designed to put TREASURE front and center. Void of storylines, videos, and special effects, the show focused solely on the music: the group’s live rap and vocals, and the supporting band. The show was fairly short at only 90 minutes long, but it was chock-full of back-to-back performances.
The setlist jumped from genre to genre, allowing fans to enjoy the group’s diverse discography. Each song was paired with complex choreography that consisted of sharp, synchronized movements and formation changes. Despite the vigorous movement, it didn’t stop the group from hitting high notes or pouring their fiery passion and charisma into their rapping. TREASURE performed energetic, rap-centric tracks such as “JIKJIN” and “BONA BONA,” but also switched up the vibe with cuter, lively songs like “YELLOW.” They also treated fans with unit performances, such as “THANK YOU,” “MOVE,” “G.O.A.T,” and “VolKno,” giving each member more space on the stage and time in the spotlight.
In particular, there were two standout performances that were quite the opposite of each other: “MMM” and “SARURU.” While other stages were just as energetic, the crowd’s excitement over “MMM” was palpable, especially since it was the first group performance following the unit stages. All 10 silhouettes appeared on the dark stage, and the beginning notes of the song had everyone in the crowd jumping on their feet. The song itself was originally very bass-heavy, but the live band made the sound reverberate even stronger throughout the theater. This seemed to amplify the group’s energy, and they sprinkled enthusiastic adlibs throughout the performance. “MMM” exemplified TREASURE’s cool charisma.
While also energetic, “SARURU” showcased the group’s youthful energy. The final bridge of the bright song brought together in a huddle that showed the group’s pure joy. As the smiling members put their arms around each other against the blasting music, it looked like a scene straight out of a coming-of-age drama. The group’s cheeriness further emphasized the song’s lyrics about offering support during tough times and made it a memorable performance.
Bringing the U.S. tour to a close, the group performed a three-song encore, including a second performance of “MMM,” and wrapped things up with some loving words for Teume. “When you think of LA, you naturally think of Hollywood, right? It’s really like we are the stars of a Hollywood movie thanks to you tonight. We can’t believe this show in LA really happened,” the group shared. “Every time Teume call our names, our hearts grow bigger. You’ve helped us grow, not just as artists, but as people, too. Today was like a dream, and we will never forget this moment.”
