After a brief hiatus in 2024, Stars On Ice returned for their 2025 tour this Spring. The theme of this year’s tour was classic rock, meant to combine the power of rock and world-class figure skating for an energetic show. The show was directed by Canadian figure skater and choreographer Kurt Browning, and it featured headlining World Champions Ilia Malinin, Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and Alysa Liu, as well as Olympic Silver Medalist Elvis Stojko, World Silver Medalist Isabeau Levito, U.S. Champion Amber Glenn, U.S. Champion Jason Brown, World Silver Medalist Satoko Miyahara, and Canadian Champion Keegan Messing.

The night included a variety of solo performances, wth Isabeau Levito kicking things off with a youthful routine to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and Jason Brown bringing a playfully fun routine to “Rock around the Clock.” Amber Glenn was next with a unique performance to “Heads Will Roll,” and Keegan Messing brought the theatrics with “Made for Lovin’ You.” Although not entirely fitting in with the rock theme of the night, Alysa Liu’s performance to Joji’s “Slow Dancing in the Dark” was beautifully haunting, with choreography expressing the song’s somber lyrics, and each jump and turn matching with the music’s rise and fall. Next, Ilia Malinin performed a rockin’ performance to “Bones,” and Satoko Miyahara brought out her unique style with “Pina.” Madison Chock and Evan Bates finished up the first half of the show with a dance medley, going through a variety of classic rock songs together.
Act Two presented even more amazing solo performances from each athlete, with Satoko Miyahara’s “Prince,” Keegan Messing’s “Blue Jeans Blues” featuring a cameo from Madison Chock, Isabeau Levito’s “Snake,” Jason Brown’s “Hit the Road Jack,” Amber Glenn’s “HOT TO GO!,” and Ilia Malinin’s mysterious performance to “Billie Jean.” Madison Chock and Evan Bates brought a uniquely themed jewelry heist performance, and newly crowned World Champion Alysa Liu brought her competition piece to “MacArthur Park” to close the show.

For the final “ICONS” stage, every skater came together for one last hoorah. Donning various rockstar-inspired outfits, each skater had their moment to shine with a few solo tricks, and the remainder of the performance highlighted the ensemble’s synchronization and harmony. Although each skater has a plethora of achievements and accolades to their name, it almost seemed as if they were minimizing their individual movements and drawing less attention to themselves to center this piece around the collective instead.
The 2025 return of Stars On Ice tour was a wonderful show full of a wide range of talents and individuality, though not so much as to take away from the overall chemistry and harmony. Each skater brought something different to the table, yet they all blended smoothly together like a hall of fame rock band. Though there were some moments where each person could be seen as the “face of the band” or the “lead singer,” they spent a majority of the night shining the spotlight on each other, each playing a part in becoming the perfect group.
