AMPERS&ONE Wraps Up ‘Born to Define’ U.S. Tour in San Jose

June 4, 2026

Seven-member K-pop boy group AMPERS&ONE wrapped up their Born to Define tour at the intimate Hammer Theater in San Jose. As fans filed into the venue, they were greeted by lights at the back of the stage spelling, “Welcome ANDEARS ♡.”

Without preamble, the show swiftly began with the seven members appearing on stage in black robes to perform “God.” The robes were quickly discarded to reveal leather jackets, and the energy in the theater got kicked up another notch for “What You Talking About” and “I’m Down.” Shouting out San Jose as the last stop of the tour, Mackiah asked, “You gotta save the best for last, right?” drawing screams from the crowd.

One notable feature of the Hammer Theater is its unusually low stage, which places performers and fans nearly at eye level. For much of the show, the group performed farther upstage, maintaining some distance from the audience. That made performances like “Slide” all the more exciting, as the members suddenly rushed downstage and leapt over the speakers to get closer to the fans for a thrilling moment.

For the second half of the show, AMPERS&ONE returned to the stage in racer jackets and denim jeans. A major highlight of the night was the back-to-back performance of “He + She = We” and “Kick Start.” The group leaned into their playful side during the former, punctuating key moments with cute facial expressions and charming interactions. They carried that energy seamlessly into “Kick Start,” keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish.

While K-pop performances often emphasize precision and perfection, what made this pair of songs especially memorable was how loose and carefree they felt. The members looked like they were genuinely enjoying themselves on stage, and that sense of fun was infectious. To cap it all off, during the ending pose of “Kick Start,” Kamden was supposed to coolly remove his jacket, but he got tangled up trying to take it off in time. Instead, he ended up running offstage after the song ended, creating one of the night’s funniest and most endearing moments.

When Kamden returned to the stage, he let out a sigh and declared, “I just lost aura.” Although he jokingly asked fans to delete any videos of the moment, Mackiah was quick to bring up his own “aura loss” incident in Minneapolis. “I order you to upload the video on social media,” he shouted. “I can’t be the only one with aura loss.” The comment drew laughter from the crowd, and Kyrell added to the fun by confessing, “Actually, I messed up at the beginning.”

The exchange perfectly captured the group’s easygoing chemistry. Rather than dwelling on small mistakes, the members embraced them, turning them into moments of laughter. Their willingness to poke fun at themselves only made them more endearing, reinforcing the sense that they were focused on having fun and connecting with fans rather than chasing perfection.

While AMPERS&ONE may still be a young group, they performed with a relaxed confidence that made the stage feel like home. They tore through the setlist, keeping pauses between songs to a minimum and fitting a remarkable number of performances into the 80-minute show before the encore. The brief moments they spent chatting with fans was enough to reveal a fun-loving side that was just as entertaining as the performances themselves.

The final song of the official setlist, “Get Famous,” felt almost like a mission statement. As a song about ambition and pursuing bigger dreams, it served as a fitting expression of the group’s aspirations to share their music with the world. Earlier in the night, Mackiah explained the meaning behind the tour title: “We will not let anyone define ourselves. We are born to define ourselves.” Whether through their polished performances, playful interactions, or willingness to laugh at themselves, AMPERS&ONE showed a clear sense of identity. By the time the night ended, they had firmly won over the hearts of the San Jose crowd.
