This year Filipino girl group BINI announced their first ever world tour, BINIverse. The tour began with a sold-out show at the Philippine Arena in the Philippines, and it will head to North America in late May. This leg of the tour will begin on the East Coast in New York, move west to Los Angeles, and move north to wrap up in Vancouver mid-June.
BINI debuted in June 2021 with the song “Born to Win,” after a three-year training period for members chosen from the survival show, Star Hunt Academy. Although BINI was originally meant to debut as nine members, the group was officially formed with eight: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena. Pre-debut, the members posted covers, often of K-pop songs, slowly but surely gaining an online presence.
After their debut with “Born to Win,” the group’s first big break came with their 2023 release, “Pantropiko.” The song and its accompanying dance challenge went viral on TikTok, and just six months after the song’s release, it reached 100 million streams on Spotify and YouTube Music. In 2024, the group continued to gain international attention, making appearances at international events such as KCON LA and ASAP Natin ‘To in Los Angeles, and releasing English singles such as “Cherry on Top.” Most recently, the group released a new R&B pop single, “Blink Twice,” mid-February of this year.
